SUMMER IN CALGARY
Posted on Tuesday May 31, 2016
Summer can be short in Calgary, so it’s important to pack as much as you can into the two short months. We put together a list of our favourite summer fun activities that help make Calgary such an awesome and fun city. How many can you cross off your list before the Labour Day long weekend is through?
Featuring the world’s toughest rodeo competitors, there are six main events that happen daily including ladies barrel racing, bareback, tie-down roping, steer wrestling, saddle bronc and bull riding. No wonder it’s been dubbed the greatest outdoor show in the world!
Whether you’re into cycling, hiking, jogging, rollerblading or skateboarding, nothing beats a casual jaunt on the Bow River Pathway on a warm summer’s day.
From 10 minute to 10 day trips, Calgary is home to all things outback and has something for everyone to enjoy.
Family friendly, with over 80 vendors supplying fresh local produce, art, meat, poultry, organic goods, jewelry and more, the Calgary Farmers’ Market has something for everyone.
There are 122,000 registered dogs in Calgary so it’s no surprise there are over 130 off leash areas in the city – the largest amount of dedicated canine space in North America! If you’re a pet owner, lover or enthusiast, this is an event you won’t want to miss.
On Saturday July 30th, a 1000 foot slip and slide will take over the city. Enough said.
We’re not talking your average sports memorabilia, Calgary’s Sports Hall Of Fame is a virtual goldmine. You can shadowbox against Lennox Lewis, goal tend in a Flames game, ski jump in their Splash Gallery, drive in a Formula 1 race and so much more!
There are so many Canada Day events in Calgary, there’s no excuse not to get out and celebrate.
When the weather gets hot, there’s nothing better than taking a refreshing dip in an outdoor pool. Good thing Calgary has seven to choose from.
Celebrating its 37th anniversary, the festival features 70 artists from over 16 countries on 9 stages at the forested retreat of Prince's Island Park. With an interactive family area, international craft market, global culinary delights, a record tent and tree-shaded beer garden, there’s something for the whole family to enjoy.
